Static shocks when touching machine Machine on carpet.   Place a rubber mat under machine to reduce static carried from carpet.
Nylon clothing.   Wear cotton clothing to reduce static on the body or spray static guard on clothing prior to using machine.
Dry air in home.   Use humidifier to increase humidity in air.
Inadequate lubrication on deck and running belt. Place hand underneath running belt and feel for adequate silicone application. Apply silicone lubrication
Improper grounding of heart rate receiver. Inspect heart rate receiver to insure that grounding wire is attached. Reattach grounding wire.
Defective grounding fibers in running belt. Feel underside of running belt. It should have a smooth cottony feel to it. If it is rough or worn in texture, replace running belt and lubricate.

TREADMILL GROUNDING SYMPTOMS

1) Heart rate pulse may not work or offers a sporadic reading.
2) Numbers in windows flicker.
3) Getting a static shock from the console.
4) Console resets.
5) Treadmill bogs down. The walking belt speeds up when someone gets on it.

SOLUTIONS

2000 and 2001 models do not have built in grounding wires. The green grounding straps can be found clipped to the base frame (visible if deck is folded upright) or inside the console display attached to the upper board, if applied. A grounding kit will most times correct the above symptoms and can be sent to the customer at no charge. The kit consists of one grounding strap to be attached to the base frame, 2 replacement bolts and a T-wrench along with a diagram and instructions.

2002-2003 models do have the grounding features built into the design of the treadmills. If the above symptoms exist, adding a grounding kit can help. Be sure static electricity is not an issue, if it is see above.
